Specification

Nicholson restored this instrument last year at a cost of £35,000,  including solid state keying & coupling and a new pedal-board.  There are six general pistons (in addition to the divisional pistons) with a 16-channel capture system.  Tom Sheffield did work on the instrument in the 1970s, when a Choir Larigot was added.

One unusual - and to the organist, BOA member David Gumbley, not entirely welcome - feature is that the Swell and Choir divisions share the same box.

The pedal Trombone originated in the instrument at Burton-upon-Trent Town Hall, but now operates on lower pressure and consequently is more generally useful to underpin the chorus.
