Specification

Parts of this instrument date back to 1881 when the London firm of Bryceson, Son & Ellis built an organ for the church, but this was significantly modified and extended by Rushworth & Dreaper in 1940, who have been responsible for two further rebuilds in more recent times.

Roy Massey spent many hours on this organ in his teenage years, and an abridged version of his history of the organ (published in Organ World) can be found via the church's website: http://www.saintalban.co.uk .

In spite of its relatively modest specification, the organ benefits from the building's lively acoustic, as was shown to excellent effect during the recent recital by Keith Hearnshaw (see left photo) that followed BOA's 2007 AGM.
