Specification

This was the 2006 venue for BOA's AGM and annual recital, and we are grateful to David Saint for braving the distinctly chilly organ loft at St Augustine's on a bitterly cold day to play a programme of well-known favourites by Bach, Franck, Herbert Howells, Saint-Saëns and (in his 250th anniversary year) Mozart.

The organ console is conventionally situated under the case pipes (see central photo) with access via narrow steps from the vestry below.  To the right of the console is a list of previous organists, amongst whom are numbered such famous names as Roy Massey (1960-1965), Philip Moore (1956-1960) and Sir William Harris (1913-1919).

The Great Organ is unusual these days for having retained not only three Open Diapason 8ft ranks, but also two at Principal 4ft.
