Specification

The instrument built by Bosward in 1850 was subsequently enlarged by Bird in 1888.  The choir organ was installed in 1934 and is thought to have been originally designed and built for a private residence.  Hawkins originally tendered for a renovation in 1961, but the work was not started until 1972 and was split into three phases to allow for necessary fund-raising.

During 2002, a scheme has been drawn up to restore the organ and add a solid state electrical system to replace the ageing and unreliable mechanical action.  Tonal changes are also planned.
